9 Seater! Automatic transmission and powered by the 3 litre turbo diesel KDH. Ultra rare 9 seat diesel version, finished in yellow. The last of its kind as these are no longer allowed to be imported. The practicality of 9 seats without the challenges of living with a commuter bus, which is more difficult to maneuver, not as efficient and more expensive to register. The 9 seat configuration in the Hiace LWB is normally found in the petrol powered version, which, in a 2 tonne van, is not good on fuel. The 1KD 3 litre engine powering this example is the most well known Toyota diesel motor, and in this smaller Hiace, it provides plenty of power and much better fuel economy than the other powertrain options.

This is an Australian Hiace, so it has a higher weight capacity and is wider than the grey imports, able to fit bigger wheelchairs and carry more passengers more comfortably. Grey imports typically have the 2 litre petrol engine, which is anemic and difficult to find parts for, whereas this Hiace uses the 3 litre KDH diesel that people know and depend on.
